Cancer Survivors Day Program Planned for June 13th
Parkland Medical Center will host a celebration in recognition of National Cancer Survivors Day on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Tupelo Music Hall in Londonderry. Cancer survivors and their families are invited to participate in this free event. Nationally known humorist educator, and author of the best seller, The Good Times Handbook Your Guide to Living an Exciting Life, Steve Sobel, PhD, will be the events featured speaker. The program will include dinner, cancer survivor Ernest Pickens personal journey, and Dr. Sobels presentation entitled, A Special Prescription for Laughing, Loving and Living. National Cancer Survivors Day is a day to come together to celebrate life, said Barbara Umansky, Oncology Social Worker and coordinator of Parklands Program. This event is part of a worldwide celebration coordinated by the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation. Participants unite in a symbolic event to celebrate life after a cancer diagnosis. The courage and determination of cancer survivors is an inspiration to all, said Umansky.
